Certified Teacher
What is it?
The ‘Zena Rommett Floor-Barre® Technique’ was developed over 50 years ago in the USA by Zena Rommett.
Based on ballet technique, alongside anatomical principles of alignment, Floor-Barre® incorporates sequences of movements on the floor. Without the usual pressure of gravity, it focuses on placement, lengthens and strengthens the musculature, to sculpt the body, creating beautiful, long, exquisite lines. By centering the body without the effort of standing, the dancers are allowed to safely work on their own maximum turnout and extension, sending energy out of their lengthened legs and spine.

Zena’s technique aids in the rehabilitation as well as the prevention of injuries. Suitable for non-dancers, as well as dancers, it increases flexibility, strength and fluidity, corrects posture, refines and builds healthy patterns in the muscle memory.

As a teacher, Anna-Lou is particularly interested in helping each student find their own genuine path for improvement and creating a safe and respectful environment.
